SUNdays Good Tanning Guide

At Sundays, our mission is to provide you with the best environment to gain a deep, long-lasting, safe tan. Therefore, we have compiled the following four-point guide to help you get the most out of our tanning equipment.

If you need any more advice regarding safe tanning, please feel free to contact us at any time.

1. General Tanning Safety Recommendations

Sunbeds are designed to offer a safer and more controlled tanning environment than natural sunlight but, as with exposure to natural sunlight, ultraviolet light may pose a risk to certain people. If you are on the following precautionary list you should seek the advice of your doctor before using any tanning equipment:
  • Anyone under 16 years of age

  • Anyone taking medicines or drugs which increase sensitivity to UV light, such as:

    • Antibiotics

    • Analgesics

    • Medication for blood pressure

    • Diuretics

    • Some contraceptive pills

    • Anti-malarials

    • Anti-depressants

    • Psoralens

    • Eosins

  • Anyone with a medical condition that becomes worse in sunlight

  • Anyone with fair, sensitive skin, burns easily and does not tan in sunlight

  • Anyone with a large number of freckles and/or moles

  • Anyone who has, or has had, skin cancer or anyone where a member of their immediate family has had skin cancer

  • Anyone with a history of sunburn, especially in childhood

  • Anyone who is or maybe pregnant

2. Before Using a Tanning Unit

  • Choose the right equipment for your skin type. Please feel free to ask our advice.

  • Make sure you have been instructed how to use the equipment properly

  • If signs of redness remain from previous sessions or from sunbathing, seek advice

  • Do not consume alcohol

  • Make sure you know your skin type and never exceed the recommended dosage for your skin type

  • Remove all jewellery, contact lenses and cosmetics from your face and body

  • It is recommended that you use one of our professional tanning lotions to climatise and moisturise your skin

  • Use the protective eye goggles provided

3. While Using a Tanning Unit

  • Always wear the protective eye goggles

  • Don't allow anyone else in the room while you are using the sunbed, such as your children

  • If you notice any abnormal skin reaction (rash, itches, etc.) or if you feel that you are burning, stop exposure at once and seek immediate advice

4. After Using a Tanning Unit

  • Do not sunbathe or use another sunbed within 24 hours

  • Use a moisturising lotion to re-hydrate your skin

  • It is recommended that you do not exceed 60 sessions per year
